2023 Red Carpet Trends: Hooded Gowns Take the Spotlight

Look 12 in motion at the Andrea Osei BRIDE Fall 2023 Runway Show

The year 2023 marked a significant milestone for the hooded gown, as its allure swept across international red carpets and runways. Variations of the look have been rocked by superstars from Anne Hatheway in Versace and Jenna Ortega in Saint Laurent to Chloe Bailey in Kwame Adusei.

Today, I’m taking a flashback journey to Look 12 from our Fall 2023 collection—a testament to the enduring appeal of this trend. The fusion of a sumptuous organza hood with a sleek crepe gown renders this ensemble one of my personal favorites.

This gown draws inspiration from the iconic Azzedine Alaïa creation famously donned by Grace Jones in the vibrant era of the 80s. The resonance of that era’s bold fashion statements has been artfully captured in our design, paying homage to an iconic moment in fashion history.

For me, the hooded gown aesthetic is an inexhaustible source of fascination. It seamlessly combines sophistication with a touch of mystery, creating a look that transcends time and trends. The allure of the hooded gown lies not only in its visual appeal but in the empowerment it bestows upon the wearer—a statement of bold individuality that has resonated throughout the fashion landscape.

I’m curious to know your perspective on this trend. What’s your take on the hooded gown? Do you find its merging of elegance and avant-garde style as captivating as I do?
